strange days October 20, 2009

it’s been strange these days at our home. Lots of guests, all times meetings and diners, even at our place (the idea I hated because of the shape our appartment is still in (catastrophic!). It ended quite well though.
We were to go to the Country this wednesday, M. to start his company and look for a job to make and the people to do it, and to run a 100km marathon, me to show the baby to everyone and to meet my new adoptive brother I haven’t met yet. But since we have absolutely no money, taking a risk that we go and the work doesn’t appear is a little bit stupid. So we wait until the first telephone from a client to go. Maybe we’ll go.

For now, the baby grows too fast. As for today only, he’s learned to grimp on the sofa and walk around with anything he can reach that could support him. He even tried to move the chair that is near his bed. It’s too much, he’s really starting to be a big boy! Right now he’s destroying a publicity book from some supermarket and he’s having soo much fun with it I don’t want to disturb him. And he (re)discovered the tomato juice. He loves it! But as he’s not used to the bottle, he’s spilling it all around, that’s the worst part of it.

It’s time to bed so I’ll try to make him sleep but I worry it wouldn’t be easy today. Well, we’ll see!

small successes #6 October 8, 2009

I missed two weeks but here I go again!

1. I moved every single furniture in our bedroom, including the huge dressing I don’t like but my husband does too much. Everything has changed its place and it’s much more comfortable and cosy by now. There will be walls painted in the near future but I didn’t want to wait as it could last a while however

2. I made the appointments for the school and the bank and the company – I start the university year tomorrow and I have a business meeting with a possible partner next month: I have to learn a new complicated to the limit software and think about how it could be changed to fit my (future) clients’ needs, then talk about it with the partner. The first meeting wasn’t so well for my side, but I hope will be better.

3. Cleaned up the dressing (finally!), made laundry and so on and so on. Oh, I promised myself not to mention the laundry as a success comparing to what others have as a laundry amount . Cleaned the external stores (they’re white again! and made a baby cup out of a t-shirt (my idea!) <a href="“>it’s there.

I’ll run the marathon. Or at least I’ll start preparing for it. That’s more probable. The first step, we’re buying a baby carrier that we’ll be able to run with. And then we practice together, all 3 of us. Maybe that’ll work. Hope so!

For now it’s M who takes our regular carrier, the baby’s car seat on it and the baby in it (all together about 18 kgs) and runs with it back and forth up the little mountain that our town is built on. I’m not that ambitious, I’ll just carry my weigh up and down maybe:)

time to start doing something September 26, 2009

I mean doing something about me. My body. That was used to work a lot some time ago and is doing nothing now. I’ll start with some abs and then maybe I will finally go back to the swimming pool. I’ve started the weider’s method , I’m at day 9 of 42, and it’s not that bad for now. I’ll try doing it till the end.

Hope I’ll manage!

A good cheap way for awsome decoration September 17, 2009

I’ve always wanted to have a biiiiig photo on a wall. but: 1: I never could choose one 2: I wasn’t allowed to hang anything on the walls as we’ve rented our appartment earlier 3: it’s expensive to print well and if not, it looks bad.

here’s the solution: a site that makes your photo look as a huge publicity poster and give you the file to print on a home printer: one sheet by one. then you can do with it whatever you want. I think I’ll laminate it and glue on a piece of carton or mdf to make it look a little bit thicker and espace one sheet from another to make it look something like this (but no mang off course, but us w/the baby or just a baby:

small successes #5 September 17, 2009

And so it’s another thursday.

1. not mine but maybe a bit though: we have a bathroom ready to use. There is the tub and wc installed, and the water heater is working… wow, it feels goooood! I have to admit that the whole renovation thing is tiring and annoying and makes us both angry and impatient, mostly because every time we get to do something, it doesn’t work or breaks or is not well done and we have to waste the day to go back to the store and change it. But for now it works. and we can proceed. Thank God

2. In order to make a house a little bit more pretty even before the end of the renovation, I sewed the curtains finally. It helps already: as our bedroom has a window to the street, we no longer have to close the external plastic window blind – it makes the morning wake ups harder because of the dark.It looks good.

3. I went to write the exam, I wrote it, and I think I wrote it well. I don’t have the answer yet but I hope it will spare me writing the four exams in january (I have to have a good note from all the 4exams’ bloc)

that would be it for the week. there is my first business meeting on monday, hope to write about it as a success next week…

yeah, 17/20 on the exam!!! September 13, 2009

it’s great to think I’m still able to pass the exam with a high note. If somebody’s doing the first year of master for 3 years, it helps to see a 17, really.
Still, it doesn’t change much. I have to validate the whole block of 4 classes – today was the last exam of the bunch, I hope for the best. If I don’t pass, I have to repass it in january, and the all 3 – I could, but there’s one I passed with a miraculous help from above and I’m not counting for the miracle to repeat… So maybe these 12 results of an analyse in one question wasn’t wrong? let’s hope so.

While I was trying to avoid learning, I’ve made some changes in my 3D model of our flat. There will be some nice stuff there, I found the inspiration on the decoblogs, I can share it with you:

small successes #4 September 10, 2009

I realized that it’s thursday just by looking at the f&f live (instead of learning), so here it is, the successes fromthe holidays and after.

1. It’s not my success, but the baby’s got his first tooth. We’re so prowd! And another thing: he says mama and tata. First he was saying mama when my husband entered the room but he knows now and he says tata to him and mama to me. We’re looking forward to see what comes next. First steps? From what I see it’s not very far away: he’s already able to walk round his bed hanging with the two hands.

2. I’ve survived the holidays with my parents. I didn’t try to act different just to show them that I’m good (well, maybe a little). There were some things we could get better but at the end, it was realy nice.

3. I went to write the exam. I know it’s maybe not an ordinary success but with the renovation (we still don’t have a normal bathroom ready but there are chances to see it today) and the baby needing me I had a lot of excuses not to learn and not to go. But I went. And I wrote it. There is another one on Friday, we’ll see.

So many things I wanted to write and when I finally can, I don’t know what to write about. The most important: we have a TOOTH!!! The first one, actually, a tiny top of it that is visible. Every time my mom called to check up on us before the vacation, she asked if it was there. I once told her that the baby waits to see her to show it and it happened the exact way: once we were there, it came. I wanted to take the picture and this is all I could do:

there was some rain in bretagne, some sun, some ocean, some burned to red skin when the last two combined, some really cold nights, some English neighbors drinking beer all the time and laughing and shouting all nights, the joy of watching the baby play and grow and watching my parents watching the baby play and grow. There’s been also a car-repairing journey and some sightseeing.

and we’re back. we came home with absolutely no money and, miraculously, found a tax refund cheque in the mailbox that nearly saved our life.

i’m not feeling very well today, it can be from not sleeping too much or from pregnancy. I’ll check in the morning. Not that I wouldn’t want to, because if I think of it, I would, but it would mean some complications in our french life however. I mean the studies that already last  too long and the work I’m preparing to start on my own. Hope God knows better what’s best.
